New Yorkers ask that Mueller prosecutor’s report on Russian plot be published

New York, .- More than a hundred New Yorkers of all ages demanded in Times Square on Thursday the US Department of Justice. to make known in its entirety the report of the Russian plot prepared by special prosecutor Robert Mueller, around the election campaign of President Donald Trump.

“We want to make it known now,” they shouted during the demonstration in the popular tourist area of Manhattan, called by the movement “March for the Truth”, composed of civil organizations like MoveOn and Rise and Resist.

New Yorkers came carrying messages like “Nobody is above the law”, “Show the full report”, “Trump can not tell the truth” or like the one that Nancy, 74 years old, maintained: “We pay for it and we want to see it” .

Nancy told Efe that she considers that the report has not been made public because “it implicates Trump with all these people,” in reference to the Russian government.

For two years, Mueller has investigated the alleged contacts between the electoral team of President Donald Trump and the Russian authorities during the campaign for the 2016 presidential election, and the possible obstruction of the president’s justice.
Mueller delivered the report in mid-March but Attorney General William Barr just sent a summary to Democratic House and Senate leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.

In the report that Mueller gave to the Justice, the special prosecutor determines that nobody of the campaign of Trump, nor the own president, conspired with the Russian authorities in the elections of 2016, but it does not conclude if there was obstruction to Justice on the part of the leader.

The ombudsman of New York, Jumaane Williams, was one of those who let his voice be heard and pointed out that it is about being transparent with the people, and pointed out that no one can be believed in the current administration of President Trump.

“We want the report to be made known, we want to know what’s behind it, if there’s nothing in that report, let it be published now,” he told an euphoric audience.

“It’s about the future of the country,” said Williams, who was elected last March.
For his part, activist Carlos Calzadilla Palacio, founder and leader of Young Progressives of America (YPA) (Young Progressive United States) said not to publicize the document “is a frontal attack on democracy.”

He asked himself: “If the report exempts you (from Trump), why do you keep it a secret?”
Yesterday the Judicial Committee of the House of Representatives, presided over by the New York Democrat Jerrold Nadler, demanded the full publication of the report.

Barr said last week it would edit the information it believes “potentially compromises the sources and methods” of the collection of information or what “unduly infringes on the personal privacy, interests and reputation of third parties.”
But the Democrats and some Republicans in Congress insist that it must be published in its entirety. (EFEUSA)
