First Miss Puerto Rican World will be honored at San Juan Moda

 San Juan, .- The XII edition of San Juan Moda will be dedicated to Lady Wilnelia Merced Forsyth, the first Puerto Rican to win the title of Miss World in the history of the contest -1975-.

The president of the organization, Carlos Bermúdez, said in a statement that the ceremony and tribute will take place on Thursday, March 28 at the San Juan Hotel in Isla Verde during the fashion show of designer David Antonio, who opens the cycle of catwalks of this edition of fall-winter season 2019 within San Juan Moda.

This Thursday, the San Juan Moda will offer a preview of what will be the fashion week of the capital, which will take place from April 26 to May 5 with more than 20 presentations that include designers such as Stella Nolasco, Eddie Guerrero, Miriam Budet, Lisa Thon, Marcos Carrazana, Jaer Caban, Jose Raul, Kelvin Giovannie, Angel Guzman, Herman Nadal, Edd Aponte, Osvaldo Morales, Carlota Alfaro and Luis Antonio, among others.

“Wilnelia has been involved for 43 years in the world of fashion and beauty,” Bermudez said, adding that since her reign “she has dedicated her life to representing Puerto Rico with dignity in London, where she resides, and in every country where her professional commitments have taken her. “

“In Wilnelia Puerto Rico has always had an ambassador of height that has never been the subject of controversies or scandals that will enforce its image,” said the president of San Juan Moda.

“She is a determined and strong woman who set goals and met them, a spoiled daughter, a dedicated mother and an exemplary wife who elegantly complemented the public position of a famous husband.” Proud of her Puerto Rican roots, she knew how to win the admiration of the British and respect for the Crown, “he added.
Wilnelia Merced was born in Caguas and was during her last year of high school, when she became Miss Puerto Rico.

After his year of reign he obtained a contract with the agency Arleene Ford, and began modeling for international designers, such as Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino and Dior.

In 1983 he married British television presenter Bruce Forsyth -who died in 2017-, with whom he had his son Jonathan. (EFEUSA)
