The UN will not join any of the initiatives proposed by different countries to try to solve the crisis in Venezuela, announced today its secretary general, António Guterres.
Instead, the organization will choose to keep its own offer of mediation on the table to the government and the country’s opposition, Guterres told reporters.
The Portuguese diplomat explained that, although he has been in contact with different governments, the General Secretariat of the United Nations has decided “not to be part of any of these groups, to give credibility to our continued offer of good offices” (EFEUSA).
