Reduced schedule at Miami airport terminal by administrative closure

The G terminal of the Miami International Airport (MIA) will operate with reduced hours on Saturday, Sunday and Monday due to the shortage of security personnel in the scanner control as a result of the administrative closure, airport authorities informed today.

This terminal, which operates some flights of companies such as Frontier, United Airlines, Aruba Airlines and Volaris, will close at 1 pm (18.00 GMT) on three days as a precaution, given the shortage of personnel of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) specialized in scanner management.

Greg Chin, MIA spokesman, told local media that the reduction in hours will require relocating about a dozen flights in other of the six terminals that MIA has.

Due to a lack of agreement with Congress regarding the allocation of funds to the Government of Donald Trump to build a wall on the border with Mexico, since December 22, 25% of the administration is closed.

This situation affects some 800,000 employees who have stopped receiving their salary and has disrupted the operation of different tourist areas or the activities of agencies to which they have not been assigned new resources.

Few advances have occurred in the last 20 days, since neither Trump nor the Democratic leaders of Congress have ceded territory in the negotiations and it is expected that the administrative closure could last several more weeks
Some 51,000 TSA officials are among public employees who work well without pay or on leave and will stop receiving their first full paychecks this week, according to Miami Local 10 News.

Democratic congressmen for Florida Donna Shalala and Debbie Mucarsel-Powell will hold a conference at the airport today to denounce the “damaging impact” of the administrative closure, which is causing “loss of wages” and is a “threat to public safety”, They said in a statement. (EFEUSA) .-
