“Escape Room” and “The Vanishing” arrive on a billboard with few premieres

After a Christmas season full of important commercial releases such as Aquaman and Mary Poppins Returns, the first week of 2019 arrives with few novelties on the billboard, with the horror movie “Escape Room” and the mystery of “The Vanishing” as main novelties .

“Escape Room” is part of one of the most popular games of recent years in big cities, the escape halls, to create a fiction in which the challenge to leave the room reaches the end: the last to do so will die.

Directed by Adam Robitel, author of “Insidious: The Last Key” and one of the installments of Paranormal Activity, the fiction features Deborah Ann Woll, Taylor Russell and Tyler Labine among its cast of actors.

For his part, Gerard Butler returns to the big screen in “The Vanishing”, a story that is based on real events that occurred on a Scottish island in 1900, when three lighthouse keepers disappeared under mysterious circumstances.

Butler, who repeats in an action narrated in maritime scenarios after his journey in the submarine of “Hunter Killer”, is accompanied by Peter Mullan and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson in a plot that focuses on the discovery of a treasure of gold hidden in the Flannan Islands, north of Great Britain.
Among the premieres also highlights “State Like Sleep”, by Meredith Danluck, a film about a woman who must face the consequences of the double life that her partner took as a celebrity before committing suicide.

“American Hangman” will present a technological dystopia that calls into question the judicial system in the era of smartphones.

Starring Donald Sutherland, tells the story of an unidentified man who publishes on social networks that has kidnapped two strangers and intends to kill one of them before the end of the day, thus generating an online trial in which the public will act as a jury and before which the authorities must improvise their response.

Finally, the animated fiction “Animal Crackers” arrives in the country, once it has already visited the halls of Asia and Europe, but whose difficulty to find distribution has delayed its premiere in the American continent for more than a year.

In “Animal Crackers” a family will inherit an old circus and a unique box of cookies in the shape of animals that makes whoever eats one become the animal that gives shape. (EFEUSA) .-
