The next Minister of Tourism of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, and the current Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, Francisco Javier García, undertook to sign an agreement between both countries to exchange experiences in tourism.
Torruco and Garcia met in Mexico City, where the future Mexican official received the Dominican to agree on the compromise.
“I had the honor of receiving the Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, Francisco Javier García, with whom I have pledged to sign an agreement from the government of (the elected president) Andrés Manuel López Obrador that will allow us to exchange experiences for the benefit of our nations, “Torruco said in a Twitter message.
The meeting, described by the officials as “fruitful and successful, served for both of them to take stock of the moment the industry is living in their countries.
They also discussed actions that could be taken jointly in favor of tourism development and highlighted the positive impact that this activity has on the economies of their respective countries, as well as the challenges that exist to guarantee the sustainable growth of the sector.
The future Mexican minister, like López Obrador, will take office on December 1.
The Dominican minister is in this capital to participate in the international expo IBTM Americas, which is celebrated from Wednesday to Thursday in Mexico City, where the Dominican Republic is the guest country.
Garcia and Torruco noted that in addition to the effort made by each country to attract tourists, it is necessary to assume a common agenda on specific issues that benefit the sector.
Torruco, who has visited the Dominican Republic five times, highlighted the beauty and warmth of that country.
At the same time, Garcia valued the capacity and experience of Torruco in the tourism world and said that Mexico will have an “extraordinary minister” from December 1.
The Dominican official said he is willing to contribute the experience of success that his country has had and “learn from the Mexican”.
