Veteran forward Carmelo Anthony reacted with irony and surprise to the comparisons that through the social network of Instagram have appeared with the publication that veteran guard Kyle Korver of the Cleveland Cavaliers, is better player than him at this time of their professional careers within the NBA.
“WOWWWWW,” Anthony wrote in a response to the post from his verified Instagram account. He also published emojis that cried and wrote: “I had to comment on this matter”.
Anthony, a three-time Olympic gold medalist and NCAA champion, had a bad season with the Thunder in 2017-18, assuming a new role as the team’s third offensive option.
The 33-year-old averaged 16.2 points, his lowest mark of his career, with 40 percent shooting as an option to capture balls and shoot, instead of being the first offensive option, as it has been during Most of his professional career with the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks.
Anthony in that new role within the field also captured 5.8 rebounds per game.
Anthony’s role was significantly reduced during the first-round playoff loss to the Utah Jazz, where they were eliminated by 4-2 to best of seven.
Korver, who was selected in the same 2003 college draw as Anthony, has played a key role in the Cavaliers’ presence towards the Eastern Conference finals.
In the regular season, he averaged nine points on 46 percent of field goal hits during the time he played as a reserve for the Cavaliers.
A reserve job that is something that Anthony already anticipated that would not consider facing the next season with the Thunder.
The 10-time All-Star has an early termination option for his contract next season, for which he would charge $ 28 million.
