The guitarist of the group Dead & Company, John Mayer, was transferred today to a hospital to receive urgent surgery as an appendicitis treatment and is already in the process of recovery, the band reported on his Twitter account.

“This morning, Tuesday, December 5, John Mayer was admitted to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy,” they said in his social network account about the guitarist, who is already recovering, a representative told CNN.

In the text, they also reported that the unforeseen forced them to postpone today’s concert in New Orleans, without giving further details about the situation.

John Mayer, 40, has performed since its inception in 2015 with the group, which includes former Grateful Dead members such as Bob Weir and Mickey Hart, as well as Bill Kreutzmann, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti.

In an interview with the newspaper “The New York Times” last March, Mayer regretted being labeled a “bad boy” and a womanizer, and said he inherited “the reputation of a younger boy.”

The next concert of the band will be this Thursday in Orlando (Florida), and Friday in Sunrise, also in Florida.
