The Colombians Shakira and Maluma won the most nominations for the Latin American Music Awards, which will be presented on October 26 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, announced today the organization of these awards.
Shakira and Maluna, who will arrive at the gala with nine and eight nominations respectively, also share the candidacy for the artist’s award of the year along with Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, Enrique Iglesias, J Balvin, Romeo Santos, Nicky Jam, Wisin and the Banda Sinaloense MS by Sergio Lizárraga.
The barranquillera competes also in the categories of album of the year, with “El Dorado”; best single, thanks to “Chantaje”, which plays precisely alongside Maluma, and tropical song favorite for “Deja Vu”, in which he sings with the bachatero Prince Royce.

Nominations take into account fans’ interactions with music, including sales, streaming and social media activity, as analyzed by Billboard listings through allied data such as Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound.
Although these data serve to choose the nominees, it is finally the public that chooses the winners through a popular vote that begins today and ends on October 17 on the website of the awards and Twitter.
