Shakira and Maluma dominate the Latin American Music Awards

The Colombians Shakira and Maluma won the most nominations for the Latin American Music Awards, which will be presented on October 26 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, announced today the organization of these awards.

Shakira and Maluna, who will arrive at the gala with nine and eight nominations respectively, also share the candidacy for the artist’s award of the year along with Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, Enrique Iglesias, J Balvin, Romeo Santos, Nicky Jam, Wisin and the Banda Sinaloense MS by Sergio Lizárraga.

The barranquillera competes also in the categories of album of the year, with “El Dorado”; best single, thanks to “Chantaje”, which plays precisely alongside Maluma, and tropical song favorite for “Deja Vu”, in which he sings with the bachatero Prince Royce.

Meanwhile, Maluma has eight nominations, including a favorite urban artist, pop / rock favorite song, with the song “Vente Pa’ca”, which sings in the company of Puerto Rican Ricky Martin.

These awards, which emerged three years ago as the Latin version of the popular American Music Awards, recognize artists of the pop / rock genres, regional Mexican, urban and tropical.

He also honors favorite artist Crossover, who has contenders this year to Justin Bieber, his former girlfriend, Hispanic Selena Gomez, and the current sentimental couple of it, The Weeknd.

Shakira and Maluma follow in nominations, with five each, the Puerto Ricans Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, Nicky Jam, the American bacchusters Prince Royce and Romeo Santos and the Spanish Enrique Iglesias.

Fonsi and his already historic track “Despacito”, which collaborates with Daddy Yankee and Canadian Justin Bieber, is nominated for single of the year, best collaboration and favorite pop / rock song.

In this last category, Fonsi competes with “Reggaeton lento (Bailemos)”, of the youth group CNCO; “En tu me la radio” by Enrique Iglesias along with Descemer Bueno and Zion & Lennox; and the already mentioned “Vente Pa’Ca” and “Blackmail”.

Fonsi, whose summer success has beat world records, will also measure Enrique Iglesias and Colombian Juanes in the category of favorite pop / rock male artist.

Nominations take into account fans’ interactions with music, including sales, streaming and social media activity, as analyzed by Billboard listings through allied data such as Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound.

Although these data serve to choose the nominees, it is finally the public that chooses the winners through a popular vote that begins today and ends on October 17 on the website of the awards and Twitter.

Thus, the public will be able to choose album of the year, to which the CNCO group aspires, with “Primera Cita”; the late Mexican songwriter Juan Gabriel, with “Dress of label: By Eduardo Magallanes, Prince Royce, with” Five “, Romeo Santos, with” Golden “, and Shakira, with” El Dorado “.

Nicky Jam, one of the great winners of the latest Latin American music awards, also appears on the list of artists with the highest number of nominations in the category of favorite urban artist, best album and single of this genre for “Phoenix” and “The lover”, respectively.

Prince Royce competes, among others, by tropical favorite artist, and his album “Five” by album of the Year and album of the year within this genre.

For its part, Romeo Santos entered the list of favorite tropical artist and his song “Imitadora” in the best tropical song, while his album “Golden” will be in competition for the general category and that of this Caribbean genre.

On the other hand, in the category of Favorite Mexican Regional Song will be measured this year the Sinaloense Band MS of Sergio Lizarraga, with “I have to hang”; Caliber 50, with “I’ll always love you”, Christian Nodal, with “Adiós amor”; Gerardo Ortiz, with “Regresa hermosa”, and Ulysses Chaidez and his Plebes, with “Te regalo”.
