Trump leaves for France to meet with Macron and celebrate on July 14

The president, Donald Trump, left a few minutes ago to Paris to meet with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, on Friday and participate in the festivities on July 14, Bastille Day.

Trump and First Lady Melania Trump took off at 19.43 (ET) aboard Air Force One from the Andrews Air Force Base (Maryland), which they had flown in by helicopter from the White House.

Together with Trump, his Cabinet Chief, Reince Priebus; His National Security Advisor, General H.R. McMaster; And the director of its National Economic Council, Gary Cohn.

The meeting between Trump and Macron will take place Thursday afternoon, hours after the US president lands in Paris and meets with officials from the US embassy.

Macron and his wife Brigitte will receive the Trump marriage at the Hotel des Invalides and visit with them the tombs of Napoleon and French Marshal Ferdinand Foch, commander of allied armies in World War I.

Trump then will hold a brief “introductory” solo meeting with Macron, where both will share “perspectives” on the respective bilateral encounters they had during the G20 summit last week in the German city of Hamburg.

Then, the presidents will join several of their top advisers and will hold a meeting centered, according to the White House, on “Syria and the fight against terrorism”, to then offer a joint press conference.

On Friday, Trump will attend the parade of the National Party of France, to which also three American veterans of the invasion of Normandy in World War II will go.
