Cirque du Soleil presents its show “Ovo” on the east coast of the country

The Canadian circus company Cirque du Soleil brings to the east coast of the United States one of its most successful shows, “Ovo”, from the Portuguese, egg, which will begin its tour today in Sunrise (Florida) and finish it in Uniondale (Nueva York) at the end of August.

From today until August 30, the stadiums of five cities will host a herd of acrobatic ants, balancing beetles, cycling spiders, jumping crickets and dancing dragonflies, who together with other insects will offer a unique show, according to those responsible for the Circus company

“It’s one of the most fun, colorful, positive and energetic shows of Cirque (du Soleil),” whose members will offer some very unique acts, never seen before, Tim Bennett, artistic director of “Ovo” said in a statement sent to Efe.

Written and directed by the Brazilian Deborah Colker, “Ovo” tells the story of a mysterious egg that appears from nothing in a colorful ecosystem inhabited by insects that see their perspectives changed due to this new object, which represents the enigma and cycles of their lifes.

Nevertheless, the artistic director believes that “Ovo” the most special is his message.

“It is a history of inclusion and how a community of insects first rejects a ‘foreign’ insect because it is different from them. They do not understand it or understand its ways and therefore feel threatened by it,” Bennett said.

“In the course of history they realize that they and the foreigner are more alike than different, and come to understand and finally accept it and even love it,” he added.

Bennett said the success of the show is because it resembles the culture and world of Cirque du Soleil where the inclusion of a group of more than 100 artists, technicians and staff from 21 different countries is one of its greatest strengths.

“We are a mixture of many languages, skin colors, religions and cultures … and many more,” he said.

He said that Cirque du Soleil is working as a team “without regard to politics or borders” putting the trust among all members.

“If we can all work together in the circus to do what we do, there is no reason why others around the world can not do the same,” he said.

“Egg” is full of life. Insects work, play, fight and seek love in a continuous uproar of moving energy. Your home is full of biodiversity, beauty, action and moments of quiet emotion, indicates the presentation of the work.

The show will be presented in the Sunrise cities of Florida from today until July 23, in Miami from July 28 to 30 and in Jacksonville from August 2-6.

Tickets prices, according to the official website of the company, range from 25 to 198 dollars.

The Canadian company Cirque du Soleil is a reference of the international scene that since its creation in 1984 has always sought to seduce the imagination, stimulate the senses and appeal to the emotions of spectators.

Over the last 30 years more than 100 million spectators have attended their shows and Cirque du Soleil has become the most successful theatrical circus company in the world.
