54% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s management

NEW YORK (Reuters) – 54% of Americans disapprove of President Donald Trump’s administration and only 40% approve, according to a poll released today, just days before he reaches his first 100 days in the White House.

The telephone survey was made on behalf of The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and the NBC network, with a difference of 14 percentage points between those who disapprove of its management and approve it.

In a similar poll last February, a few days after Trump took office on January 20, the difference was 4 percentage points.

According to the WSJ, Trump’s approval rating of 40% is the lowest compared to the last 11 presidents in polls conducted at similar dates of commencement of their terms.

Apart from Trump, only one of them was below a 50% approval rating, and it was Gerald Ford after he took office following Richard Nixon’s resignation in 1974.

The survey indicated that among the independents the disapproval rate is 54%, while only 30% is in agreement with its management, which gives a difference of 24 percentage points. In the February survey, that difference was 9 points.

Asked about how Trump is managing the economy, 44% approved their actions and 46% disapproved. In contrast, 6 out of 10 Americans supported the recent missile attack on a Syrian air base.

The survey was conducted with telephone calls made to a national sample of 900 people, between April 17 and April 20, and has a margin of error of 3.27 percentage points. (EFEUSA)
